چکیده

This paper deals with the study of variable speed limits (VSLs) for traffic control and their integration user information strategies. As few studies have addressed integrated VSL strategy, we focus on comparing adoption latter alone strategy application no-control case, highlighting benefits brings. The is able to smooth severity congestion, shifting its occurrence in a section mainstream mostly suited vehicle accumulation. An real network carried out. congestion conditions along highway are simulated by means Dynameq simulation software METANET macroscopic model. VSLs applied area aiming evaluate potential limitations as well Two different cases road caused presence on-ramps studied. Results show that two strategies leads redistribution flows, achieving reduction total travel time spent an increase traveled distances, i.e., reducing overall despite assigned flows. However, requires adequate transportation supply mainly crossing demand.

Variable Speed Limits: Conceptual Design for Queensland Practice

Variable Speed Limits (VSL) is an Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) control tool which can enhance traffic safety and which has the potential to contribute to traffic efficiency. Queensland's motorways experience a large volume of commuter traffic in peak periods, leading to heavy recurrent congestion and a high frequency of incidents. Consequently, Queensland's Department of Transport a...

Control Strategy for Variable-Speed, Stall-Regulated Wind Turbines

A variable-speed, constant-pitch wind turbine was investigated to evaluate the feasibility of constraining its rotor speed and power output without the benefit of active aerodynamic control devices. A strategy was postulated to control rotational speed by specifying the demanded generator torque. By controlling rotor speed in relation to wind speed, the aerodynamic power extracted by the blades...

Variable Speed Drive Application Based Acoustic Noise Reduction Strategy

The acoustic sound level caused as secondary effects of industrial energy conversion processes is often perceived as an unwelcome noise emitted into the enclosing surrounding. In order to verify design aspects for reducing such undesirable noise emission in particular within variable electric speed drive applications, suggested novel combinations of electrical and mechanical motor topologies ar...
